Applying our heat-activated letters is a simple and enjoyable process, opening up new opportunities for crafting and customization.
No Sewing Required: There’s no need to prick your fingers or take a sewing class to customize your projects with letters. With our iron-on letters, all you need is a little heat to bond the heat-activated adhesive to fabric and other materials. Simply use an iron on the letters with the desired fabric underneath for 15–20 seconds at 310-330°F. They work similarly to our hotfix rhinestones and crystals.

What temperature should I use for iron-on rhinestone letters?
You should apply heat at 310-330°F for 15–20 seconds. We recommend using lower heat and less time for thin, delicate fabrics, and higher heat and longer application for thicker materials.
Can I wash clothing with iron-on letters?
Yes! We recommend washing your garment before applying any patches. Once you apply the patches, you should wait 48 hours before washing. When washing your customized item, turn it inside out and place it in a mesh laundry bag to protect the letters and use a cold water cycle, or wash in cool water by hand. It’s also best to hang dry, as the heat from dryers can disrupt the adhesive.
Do iron-on letters work on all fabrics?
They work on most fabrics, including denim, canvas, cotton, and polyester. Delicate fabrics, such as silk, chiffon, satin, and tulle, should be tested first. Apply your iron to a hidden area for a spot test and look for melting, scorching, or discoloration.
Can I sew iron-on letters for extra security?
Yes! Our iron-on patches do not require any sewing, but you can sew the edges of the patch to enhance durability and longevity. This can be especially useful on stretchy fabrics where the adhesive could be slowly peeled off.
Do I need a heat press, or can I use a regular iron?
You can definitely use a regular iron, but heat presses are wonderful too. Either way, be sure to apply firm, even pressure during application. Whichever heat device you use, double-check your heat settings and application time to be safe.
Can iron-on letters be repositioned after heating?
No, they cannot. The adhesive fuses the patch and fabric quickly. Even when the letters are still hot, you should not try to reposition them, as the adhesive may stick and ruin the garment. The adhesive bond is permanent, so take your time when positioning patches and triple-check that everything is right before applying any heat.
