How do you apply rhinestone transfers?

Simple: you need heat! All rhinestone transfers have two things in common: glittering stones and heat-activated glue backings. To apply these hotfix rhinestone motifs and graphics, follow a few easy steps:

1. Place the design on a flat surface.
2. Grab your soon-to-be-bedazzled item and put it next to the rhinestone transfer. Check for any folds or wrinkles. 
3. Plug in your heat press or household iron, and follow the manufacturer’s guide for the best temperature. Heat transfers adhere best when devices are set to around 300°F to 325°F. Turn off the steam setting.
4. Wait 5 to 15 minutes, or until your iron or heat press reaches the desired temperature.
5. Peel off the transfer sheet, and transfer your design to its destination. Position in place, and cover with transfer paper.
6. With the heating device, push down with medium pressure and start counting. Smaller rhinestone transfers need about 5 to 10 seconds of pressure, while larger pieces need about 15 to 20 seconds.   
7. Check for any peeling edges or sections that shift with touch. For any sections not fully affixed, repeat step 6.
8. Let your rhinestone transfer cool completely. Now your design is ready to shine!

To ensure that your design can withstand multiple washes, the safest option is to handwash the clothes, inside out, in a gentle detergent. If you’d rather use the washing machine, pop your clothing into a mesh laundry bag and use the delicate cycle with gentle detergent. Skip the fabric softeners and treatment sprays. They’re harsh and can affect the “stick” and shine of the stones. 

Dryers often get too hot, so it’s best to hang your clothes to dry. If that’s not an option, use the lowest heat possible and check regularly.
